Sneak Peek Weekend Quests and Skills
Fixed a bug that prevented players from receiving PvE-only skills they had unlocked during the Sneak Peek Weekend event. Players have been retroactively rewarded with the skills that were affected by this issue.
If you completed the quest "Attack on Jalis's Camp" during the Sneak Peek Weekend, the Great Dwarf Weapon skill will now be unlocked for your character.
If you completed the quest "In the Service of Revenge" during the Sneak Peek Weekend, the Great Dwarf Armor skill will now be unlocked for your character.
If you completed the quest "Destructive Research" during the Sneak Peek Weekend, the Light of Deldrimor skill will now be unlocked for your character.
If you completed the quest "The Big Unfriendly Jotun" during the Sneak Peek Weekend, the Snow Storm skill will now be unlocked for your character.

Bug Fixes
Fixed a bug that caused material crafters to display only the first digit of the number of items being crafted.
Fixed a bug in the quest "A Gate Too Far" that caused some players to get stuck in the wall of the dungeon's third level.
Fixed a bug in the quest "Attack of the Nornbear" that occasionally caused Svanir to stop moving.
Fixed a bug that caused certain Oozes to use the skill "Ooze Division" incorrectly so that they were replicating an infinite number of times.
Fixed a bug that prevented Destroyer Weapons customized in the Hall of Monuments from receiving their 20% damage bonuses. This fix will not affect weapons that have already been customized, although we are currently working on a fix to restore these bonuses as well.
Spectators in the Norn Fighting Tournament will no longer heal their favorite participants.

Collector locations have been added to all dungeon area maps.
Added two additional Xunlai chests to the town of Rata Sum.
Magni the Bison now uses the correct model in the Epilogue content.
Corrected an issue that caused Destroyer Cores to drop at a lower-than-expected rate.
The number of Destroyer Cores needed for High Priest Alkar's quest "Destructive Research" has been reduced from 10 to 3.

Took steps to address an issue with combat effects that caused some players to experience excessive red flashing. Testing will continue, and further amendments may be made in subsequent builds.

Fixed a bug that caused incorrect headgear to be displayed when characters registered their Obsidian armor in the Hall of Monuments.

Bug Fixes
Fixed a bug that occasionally prevented the Master Dungeon Guide from being updated once a dungeon had been completed.
Fixed a bug in the Eye of the North quest "The Great Norn Alemoot" that allowed users to drink from the barrel prior to reaching that step of the quest.
Fixed a bug with the Polymock skill Glowing Gaze that caused the user to lose Energy instead of gain Energy.
Fixed a bug that prevented some users from adding new product keys to their accounts.
Fixed a bug that prevented Murakai in the Cathedral of Flames dungeon and Fendi Nin and some Damned Crewmen in the Shards of Orr dungeon from having weapons equipped.

Miscellaneous
To prevent players from being taken through the Searing involuntarily, players in Pre-Searing Ascalon must now talk to Sir Tydus individually in order to head off to war.
Players may now use the Valor monument in the Hall of Monuments to update any Destroyer weapons that had been customized without receiving the standard 20% damage bonus for customization.
The camera no longer changes angles between rounds in Polymock.

$100,000 Tournament Series September Championships
This weekend offers the last chance to earn qualifier points for this month's championships. The final GvG September Championship qualifier will start at 05:00 GMT on Saturday, September 29. The final 1v1 August Championship qualifier will start at 08:00 GMT on Sunday, September 30. You or your guild must have at least 20 qualifying points (QPs) in order to participate in this weekend's championships. Competitors will vie for prizes from ATI (Event Sponsor) and Creative (Contributing Sponsor) as well as other cool goodies that are part of the more than $10,000 in prizes offered each month! The GvG championship starts at 17:00 GMT on Saturday, September 29 and the 1v1 Championship starts at 17:00 GMT on Sunday, September 30.

Don't forget to go to the Xunlai Tournament House to make your predictions on who will win these championships. (Predictions can be made right up until the start of each event.) Pick the winners and you'll receive Tournament Reward Points, just like the competitors!

Update - Thursday September 27
Imperial Herald
An Imperial Herald may now be found in the Great Temple of Balthazar. Players may consult the herald for details about the Guild Wars Bonus Mission Pack Promotion, which is active through Noon PST (-8 GMT) on October 31, 2007.
The Imperial Herald will periodically have new topics and announcements to share.

Ebon Vanguard Special Ops

Several new encounters are available from Captain Langmar.
Players who have rescued Captain Langmar from the Charr Flame Legion can find her in Grothmar Wardowns, just outside of Longeye's Ledge.
Captain Langmar can provide a Charr Battle Plan Decoder for use with encrypted Charr battle plans.
Successfully decrypted plans can then be brought back to Captain Langmar in order to launch a Special Ops encounter.

Anti-Griefing Measures

To help counteract undesirable PvP behavior, a Dishonorable Combatant system has been added to the game and a series of Arena time limit changes have been put into effect. In addition to these measures, we will be evaluating a new Report Command feature from September 28th to the 30th, after which it will be disabled pending further testing.

Report Command
Players can now use the /report command to report other players for inappropriate or anti-social behavior.
Targeting a player and typing /report or /report followed by a player's name will open a new report dialog panel. From this panel, you can report a chosen player for leeching, botting, spamming, using abusive language, or having an inappropriate character name. Reports will then be relayed and reviewed by the Guild Wars Support team.
You can report a player for leeching if you're in the same Random Arena, Alliance Battle, or Competitive Mission as that player. If at least half your team reports the same player for leeching, that player will be stripped of XP and faction rewards for the battle. See the "Dishonorable Combatant System" section below for more details. Note that you can only report members of your own party or team for leeching.
Reports of botting, spamming, abusive language, and inappropriate character names will be relayed to and reviewed by the Guild Wars Support team. Note that reporting a single player multiple times for the same offense will not expedite or influence support team attention.
A single account cannot use the /report command more than 50 times in a 24-hour period.

Dishonorable Combatant System

To discourage experience and faction leeching, intentional stalling of arena matches, and leaving matches in Random Arena, Alliance Battles, the Jade Quarry, and Fort Aspenwood before they are complete, a Dishonorable Combatant penalty system has been put into effect.

Dishonor

Dishonor points affect game types that have randomly formed teams such as Random Arenas, Alliance Battles, and Competitive Missions.
An account may be given dishonor points for leaving a PvP match prematurely, for leeching experience or faction, or for falsely reporting teammates for leeching.
Players who leave a PvP match prematurely will receive 5 dishonor points.
If a player is reported for leeching, that player will receive 2 dishonor points for each report against him. Players who report a team member for leeching without a third of their team also reporting that player will also receive 2 dishonor points.
Any account that has accumulated 10 or more dishonor points is given the Dishonorable status, which is displayed as a buff icon on screen. While affected by this status, no characters present on that account may enter any PvP missions.
The Dishonorable status remains in effect for 1 minute for each accumulated dishonor point. This status cannot be removed by logging out or changing characters.
When the duration of the Dishonorable status has expired, characters on that account may once again join PvP missions.
Dishonor points will remain on the player's account for a total of 60 minutes. If further dishonor points are acquired during this period, that account is once again given the Dishonorable status, though for a longer period of time.
To clear dishonor points from an account, a player must go 60 minutes without accumulating any new dishonor points.

Arena Time Limit Changes

To discourage players from deliberately trying to prolong Team Arena and Random Arena matches unnecessarily, the following changes are now in effect:
Standard Annihilation matches now have a time limit of 8 minutes.
Priest Annihilation matches now have a time limit of 12 minutes.
When a match's designated time limit expires, the team with the highest total morale will be declared the winner. In Priest Annihilation maps, if both teams have equal morale but only one team has a live Priest, the team with the Priest will be declared the winner. If neither of these tie-breakers applies, both teams will lose the match.

Revised Gladiator Title

With the introduction of the Dishonorable Combatant system, we've made some changes to the Gladiator title track that will make it more reasonable for average players to attain the track's titles. In the new system, we have multiplied the number of Gladiator points required for each title rank by four, and Gladiator points will now be earned in the following increments:
Players will now receive 1 Gladiator point for every 5 wins in an arena.
Each additional 5 wins after the initial point is earned will give players an added bonus Gladiator point. Thus, players also earn 2 Gladiator points for their 10th consecutive win, 3 Gladiator points for their 15th consecutive win, and 4 Gladiator points for their 20th consecutive win.
The Gladiator point bonus is capped at a maximum of 4 bonus points. This means that players who continue to be victorious after 20 consecutive wins will continue to earn 4 Gladiator points each time they win 5 additional matches.
To compensate for the adjusted difficulty of the Gladiator title, players' current Gladiator points and Gladiator title ranks will be adjusted.
All current Gladiator point totals will be multiplied by 6. Thus, if a player had rank 5 of the Gladiator title with 350 Gladiator points, that player will now be rank 6 with 2,100 Gladiator points.

Fixed a bug that prevented new Eye of the North players from reaching Boreal Station if they logged out during the introduction cinematic.
Fixed a bug in the Eye of the North primary quest "A Gate Too Far" that prevented Norn guards from resurrecting.
Fixed a bug in the Underworld that incorrectly awarded completion for the quest "the Terrorweb Queen" if the player had previously completed the quest "The Demon Assassin." This error prevented players from being awarded the Underworld Hall of Monuments trophy.

Miscellaneous
High Priest Alkar will now offer and reward the Eye of the North quests "Destructive Research" and "The Destroyer Challenge" in both the Battledepths and the Central Transfer Chamber.
Fixed the bow type of the Stygian Recurve Bow so that it matches its name.
Starting on Tuesday, October 7, players in the UK and Germany will be able to purchase character slots and the Guild Wars: 1 Million Edition Upgrade from the Guild Wars In-Game Store using telephony interactive voice response (IVR) billing. Players in the UK will be able to purchase the Guild Wars: 1 Million Edition Upgrade from the Guild Wars In-Game Store using premium-rate short messages (SMS).
Elixir of Valor now grants a 10% morale boost to the entire party.
Players who attain rank 8 in the Eye of the North Allegiance title tracks may now receive a veteran buff when they speak to a bounty NPC. These buffs do not give reputation points, but instead award an allegiance bonus every 25 kills.
Players will now receive notification when they have successfully completed the requirements for the "time attack" or "boss bounty" hunt challenges.
Updated the scaling of the User Interface so that it more appropriately fits resolutions below 800x600.
Two new masters have been added to the Isle of the Nameless: the Master of Damage and the Master of Interrupts.
The green exclamation point over Olaf Olafson has been changed to a repeatable primary quest icon for the "A Gate Too Far" quest.
Players are now rewarded with Dwarven reputation points for completing the repeatable Eye of the North quest "Kilroy's Punchout Tournament" from Gunnar's Hold.
Adjusted gates on the first and second levels of the Heart of the Shiverpeaks dungeon to prevent an exploit.
Made changes to the Fissure of Woe quests "Defend the Temple of War," "The Wailing Lord," "The Eternal Forgemaster," and "The Hunt" to prevent errors from occurring when the party completes the quests prior to accepting them.

Сегодня ArenaNet внесла существенные дополнения в систему проведения PvP сражений. Теперь в игре появилась система Воинского Бесчестья, которая поможет бороться с эгоистичным поведением игроков, покидающих команды во время PvP-битв или не участвующих в битвах. Также изменена система получения очков гладиатора. Подробности читайте ниже.

Команда /report
Теперь игроки смогут воспользоваться командой /report, чтобы сообщить о бесчестном или антисоциальном поведении других игроков. Команда будет доступна в период с 28 по 30 сентября, после чего она будет заблокирована для дальнейших испытаний.
Чтобы воспользоваться этой командой, выберите игрока и напечатайте /report или напечатайте имя игрока и команду /report сразу после него. После этого для вас откроется новая панель рапортов, из которой вы сможете сообщить об игроке как о халявщике [leecher], спамере, использующего ботов, ненормативную лексику или нецензурный ник. Все эти рапорты будут рассмотрены группой поддержки Guild Wars.
Вы сможете сообщить об игроке как о халявщике только в том случае, если вы находитесь в той же Случайной Арене, Битве Альянса или Соревновательной миссии, что и этот игрок. Игроки, покидающие PvP сражения раньше времени, будут получать 5 очков бесчестья.
За каждый поступивший на него рапорт о халявном поведении, игрок получает 2 очка бесчестья. Игроки, которые сообщили о случаях халявы и которые не были поддержаны хотя бы третью своей команды, также получают по 2 очка бесчестья.
Любой аккаунт, который накопил 10 или более очков бесчестья, получает статус «Бесчестный Воин», который будет отображаться в виде иконки на экране. В этом статусе ни один из персонажей на учетной записи не может принимать участие в PvP сражениях.
Статус «Бесчестный Воин» находится в силе 1 минуту за каждое очко бесчестья на учетной записи. Смена персонажа или повторная авторизация не могут уменьшить это время.
По окончании действия этого статуса персонажи на данной учетной записи снова могут участвовать в PvP битвах.
Очки бесчестья остаются на учетной записи в течение 60 минут. Если в течение этого времени вы снова получите очки бесчестья, учетная запись еще раз получит статус «Бесчестный Воин», но уже на более долгий период времени.
Чтобы обнулить счетчик очков бесчестья на учетной записи, вы не должны получать очки бесчестья в течение 60 минут.

Ограничения по времени на Аренах
Для стандартных битв на уничтожение противника временной лимит устанавливается равным 8 минутам.
Для битв с участием Жрецов [Priest] временной лимит устанавливается равным 12 минутам.
Когда время матча подходит к концу, победителем объявляется команда с более высоким суммарным уровнем морали. На картах с участием Жрецов если у команд будет равная мораль, но один из Жрецов убит, победит та команда, чей Жрец будет жив. Если ни одно из этих условий не будет выполнено, обеим командам засчитывается поражение.

Изменения в титуле Гладиатора
В связи с добавлением системы Воинского Бесчестья были пересмотрены принципы получения титулов Гладиатора.
Теперь игроки получают 1 очко гладиатора за каждые 5 побед на арене.

Eye of the North Hard Mode

Hard Mode has been introduced for Guild Wars: Eye of the North. Players who have completed the expansion can now try playing it again in Hard Mode for an additional challenge.

Accessing Hard Mode in Eye of the North
To gain access to Hard Mode in Eye of the North, you must first defeat the final primary quest in Normal Mode.
Once you defeat the Eye of the North quest "A Time for Heroes" with any character on your account, every level 20 character on that same account will have access to Hard Mode in Eye of the North.

Hard Mode Rewards in Eye of the North
Reputation point bonuses for completing primary quests and dungeons are 50% higher than in Normal Mode.
Reputation points received from bounties are approximately 50% higher than in Normal Mode.
Random loot found within final dungeon chests is doubled from what is given in Normal Mode.

Hero's Handbook and Master Dungeon Guide
Pages acquired for missions completed without a Hero's Handbook in your inventory can now be added to a Hero's Handbook. The cost is 100 gold per missing page. Similarly, pages for dungeons completed without a Master Dungeon Guide in your inventory can be added for 100 gold per missing page.
The following Eye of the North title NPCs can now update books with missing pages:
Gedral of Ascalon [Vanguard Herald] inside the Eye of the North
Kodan [Dwarven Recruitment Officer] in Gunnar's Hold
Tyr the Skaald [Norn Storyteller] in Gunnar's Hold
Lexx [Asuran Talent Scout] in Rata Sum
These NPCs now give rewards for any Hero's Handbook or Master Dungeon Guide that has at least half of its pages. The rewards given for turning in one of these books are as follows:

Hall of Monuments
Miniatures no longer need to be customized when displayed in a player's Hall of Monuments.
Miniatures displayed in the Monument to Devotion are now marked as "dedicated" rather than "customized".
Players can use the Monument to Devotion to switch existing miniatures from being "customized" to being "dedicated".
Miniatures that have been dedicated in a Hall of Monuments cannot be dedicated again, but they can be used by any character.
To prevent trade scams, the Trade panel will warn you if someone tries to trade you a miniature that has already been dedicated.

Report Command

After reviewing the usage of the report command during last weekend's test, we have decided to enable the command officially. The text describing the spamming and verbal abuse report commands have been updated to more clearly explain how they work. Players are never banned merely because of the volume of reports issued against them. Reports alert the GM team to review the actual chat logs of the reported player. The GM team then uses the same disciplinary policies that have always been applied to emailed reports of spamming and verbal abuse.
To use the report command, type "/report".
Targeting a player and typing /report or /report followed by a player's name opens a new Report Dialog panel. From this panel, you can report a chosen player for leeching, botting, spamming, using abusive language, or having an inappropriate character name. Reports will then be relayed to and reviewed by the Guild Wars Support team.
You can report a player for leeching if you are in the same Random Arena, Alliance Battle, or Competitive Mission as that player. If at least half your team reports the same player for leeching, that player will be stripped of XP and faction rewards for the battle. Note that you can only report members of your own party or team for leeching.
Reports of botting, spamming, abusive language, and inappropriate character names will be relayed to and reviewed by the Guild Wars Support team. Note that reporting a single player multiple times for the same offense will not expedite or influence support team attention.
A single account cannot use the /report command more than 50 times in a 24-hour period.
We will continue to monitor this feature and make further adjustments as necessary.

Underworld and Fissure of Woe Updates
When entering into these regions, players will now receive a Mission Objective list in their Quest Log. This list informs players how many quests they must complete to finish the regions for the purposes of full completion and credit for the Hall of Monuments.
Quests yet to be obtained are marked as "?????" in the Mission Objective list until they are discovered by at least one party member.
Chests now spawn upon completion of all quests in either of these regions.

Skill Updates

We will be evaluating the following changes over the course of the next week. Additional adjustments may be made during that time period.

Decreased the Health of all Spirits by 50; allowed Burning to affect Spirits.

Assassin
Death's Charge: increased conditional Health to 65..200.
Golden Fang Strike: fixed a bug that allowed the use of Golden Fang Strike without a lead attack.

Fixed a bug that prevented resurrection shrines in Oola's Lab from appearing on the Mission Map.
Fixed graphic artifacts on the loading screen and in the Skill warm-up bar that appaeared in interface sizes other than the normal setting.
Fixed a bug that prevented chat messages containing Party Search keywords from appearing in the "All" or "Trade" channels while in guild halls.
Fixed the Party Search purpose droplist so that it no longer resets to "Mission" every time the "Seek Party" checkbox is reselected.

Miscellaneous
Improved rewards from Eye of the North chests revealed by the Light of Deldrimor skill in both Hard and Normal Mode.
The Master of the North title track now counts toward Favor of the Gods.
As with explorable areas, parties now automatically fail in dungeons if they reach a party-wide 60% DP while in Hard Mode.
Players now receive the skill Brawling Combo Punch when entering into Fronis Irontoe's Lair in Hard Mode.
The guaranteed drop from the final chest in Frostmaw's Burrow has been changed from a diamond to a lockpick. Lockpicks have a consistent high gold value, while the diamond currently has a low value due, in part, to the ease of acquiring them from this chest.
Reduced the size of activation on the Resurrection Shrine in the Fortress of Jahai.
Moved the first Resurrection Shrine in Vulture Drifts to the side of the portal into Dunes of Despair.
Gold rewards for vanquishing foes in Hard Mode have been increased to five times the number of creatures killed.
Changed several Eye of the North quests so that upon completion, the Quest Log selects and highlights the related summary quest.

Removed an excessively large spawn of incubus that appeared in Arbor Bay while in Hard Mode.
The Dwarven Ghost allies revealed by the Light of Deldrimor skill are now more durable in Hard Mode.
Updated Factions pets so they increase in size when they evolve. This affects both new and existing pets.
Rewards gained by vanquishing an area are now visible in the player's Chat log.
Heroes will now only attack if they have weapons equipped.

Starting on Friday of this week, Kamadan and Lion's Arch will begin displaying their seasonal decorations and the all-new Halloween Brawl will open. You will spot a new NPC or two, and you'll note an eerie shift in some of the usual townsfolk, as well. Then on Wednesday, October 31st, both towns will host several visits from everyone's favorite monarch: Mad King Thorn! See the festival page for more information. It's going to be a boo-tiful event!

Lion's Arch и Kamadan будут специально украшены, чтобы сделать это событие незабываемым. To more clearly distinguish items that are outside of combat range, the names of characters and items more than 1,000 feet away now appear in a dimmer color.

Update - Thursday November 1

Team Arena Map Updates
Temporarily added Hero Battle maps to the Team Arena map rotation. We will be evaluating the addition of these maps over the course of the week. Additional adjustments may be made during that time period.

Bug Fixes
Fixed a bug that placed some players in an English language district upon leaving a PvP mission even though they had previously set their district to a non-English language. (Note that in order to save a language district selection, players must first log out of the game while in their preferred language district.)
Fixed a bug that prevented some players from completing the Factions quest "Little Creatures" on Shing Jea Island.
Fixed a bug that displayed Pekk [Collector] as a Sentient Vine Collector rather than a Fungal Roots Collector.
Fixed a bug that removed several NPCs from Lion's Arch.

Miscellaneous
Updated the Automated Tournament map rotation.

Bonus Mission Pack

The Bonus Mission Pack has been enabled for those players who made qualifying purchases in the online store during the Bonus Mission Pack promotion.
To access the Bonus Mission Pack missions, speak to Durmand [Historian] in any of the major port cities: Lion's Arch, Kaineng Center, or Kamadan.
For each mission, you will receive a book that tells the story leading up to the mission, along with any weapons your character will use during that mission.
To launch the mission, equip any provided weapons and click the "enter mission" button found inside the story book.
The Bonus Mission Pack missions are all single player adventures where you play as the characters from each story book. You will become that character for the duration of the mission and your normal skill bar will be replaced with that character's set of skills.
Upon completing a Bonus Mission Pack mission, you will be returned to the port city you were in previously or to your character's home port city. Your story book will have three new pages added at this point, summarizing the events that occurred during the mission as well as the effect those events had on the Guild Wars world.
You can take completed books back to Durmand to have the stories authorized. You can then trade in authorized stories to one of the four story scribes (located next to Durmand in each port city) for a customized weapon from the historic period you witnessed during the mission. However, you will no longer be able to keep the book in your Xunlai storage once it has been authorized.
Completing each mission also unlocks "Discovery Mode" for that mission, which allows you to replay the mission to achieve mission specific bonus goals. Each mission has three additional bonus goals that, once completed, will earn you additional authorized stories for that mission. The additional stories can only be earned once for each account.

Assassin
Deadly Paradox: increased Energy cost to 15.
Shadow Prison: increased recharge time to 25 seconds.

Mesmer
Clumsiness: increased recharge time to 7 seconds; decreased duration to 4 seconds.
Cry of Pain: decreased recharge time to 12 seconds.
Empathy: increased damage to 10..55.
Overload: increased non conditional damage to 5..40.

Bug Fixes

Update - Thursday December 6
Lowered Level Access for Entry into Eye of the North
Characters can now enter Eye of the North as early as level 10 by accepting the quest "What Lies Beneath" from Len Caldoron in Lion's Arch, "I Feel the Earth Move Under Cantha's Feet" from Minister of Maintenance Raiugyon in Kaineng Center, or "Hole of Istan" from Bendah in Kamadan.
Players who are between levels 10 and 19 and are in Eye of the North maps will automatically receive a buff called Journey to the North. This buff grants players a base Health of 480 and bonuses to their attributes, and replaces their current armor level with the max armor level for that class until they reach level 20.
The Journey to the North buff sets one attribute to rank 12 and three additional attributes to rank 9. The effect overrides the player's current ranks in all attributes and places 12 ranks in the attribute of the weapon the player is wielding, 9 ranks in that player's primary attribute, 9 ranks based on the attribute of the focus or shield the player is wearing (if applicable), and 9 ranks based on the skills on the player's Skill Bar until the player has three attributes with 9 ranks in them.
Upon reaching level 20, the Journey to the North buff goes away the next time that player enters a new zone.
Players new to Eye of the North can now receive a basic max damage weapon by completing the Hero Tutorial quest given by Burol Ironfist in Boreal Station. Once completed, players receive a Burol Ironfist's Commendation item that can be turned in to Arkor Leadfoot in Boreal Station for a weapon of their choosing.
A new armorer, Jolvor Stoneforge, has been added to Boreal Station to give players a cheaper source of basic max level armor in the Eye of the North expansion.

Updated PvP Rewards
Tolkano, the Tournament NPC, now sells Zaishen Keys for either 5,000 Balthazar faction or 5 Tournament Reward Points. These keys open the Zaishen Chest on the Isle of the Nameless. Tolkano can be found in the Great Temple of Balthazar, the Hero Battles outpost, and all guild halls.
The Zaishen Chest is located on the Isle of the Nameless at the top of the stairs near the location of The Guide.
The Hall of Heroes chest now grants players a Zaishen Key in addition to the normal drops they receive.

Guild Hall

Three new NPC upgrades are available for guild halls. Members may speak to the Guild Lord in their hall to purchase these upgrades for their guild.
Canthan Ambassador: allows viewing of guild halls available for purchase.
Guild Emblemer: allows the guild leader to change the guild's cape without leaving the guild hall.
Festival Hat Keeper: gives guild members access to an NPC who can remember and reproduce special festival hats they have acquired.

Bug Fixes
Fixed a bug that caused players to complete the first discovery location in the Tengu Peace Accords bonus mission pack mission during the end cinematic while in Discovery Mode.

Miscellaneous
Flasks of Firewater now provide 3 minutes of drunk effect upon a single consumption.
Lockpicks now drop in Eye of the North maps in normal mode at the same rate that keys drop in other regions.
Updated the Ursan Strike, Volfen Claw, and Raven Talons skills to touch range to make them more consistent between the mission versions and the Norn title versions.

Wintersday is here! Kamadan, Lion's Arch, Droknar's Forge, and Ascalon City are decorated for the occasion. Over the coming days, holiday activities will begin as special guests arrive to join the festivities. Everything leads up to the big Wintersday celebration on January 1, which will take place every three hours in Lion’s Arch and Kamadan (on the hour in Lion’s Arch and 15 minutes past the hour in Kamadan). Be sure to collect candy cane shards for the big celebration!

2008 ATS Ladder Changes
Automated Tournament ladders for GvG and 1v1 will reactivate at Noon Pacific time (-8 GMT) on Friday, January 4, 2008. After the reactivation, combatants and guilds that have not played in a rated match for more than 90 days will be reverted to the rank "N/A" and removed from their respective ladders. Their rating points, however, will not be lost or changed. Once inactive guilds and players return and participate in a rated match, their ranks will return to the ladder positions warranted by their ratings.

In this update restrictions to Korean language districts will be removed and players of American, European and Korean districts will be able to travel back and forth between these language districts.
Restrictions on travel to Japanese and Taiwanese language districts will be removed in a subsequent build.

Open Travel: Territory and District UI Changes
As part of our goal of supporting global player interaction, we are making changes to the Territory and District user interface. As of later today, players in Korean language districts can travel between American, European, and Korean districts. Players in Japanese and Taiwanese language districts will be able to travel to the other language districts following a subsequent game update in the coming weeks. The end result is that players in any language district will be able to travel to any other language district within Guild Wars. We will continue to offer International Districts as an additional location for players to meet one another.

Fixed a bug that sometimes caused the character-select screen to display the selected character's home campaign incorrectly, and to falsely state that the character could not be used.
Fixed a bug that caused distant Heroes to incorrectly display a change in Health instead of Energy when under the effects of some skills. For example, a Hero using Storm Djinn's Haste while beyond compass range would appear to lose approximately 10 Health per second instead of the actual 1 Energy per second.

Made preparations for the Canthan New Year's Festival, which begins at Noon Pacific (-8 GMT), February 8, 2008, and runs until Noon Pacific, February 11, 2008.

Party Animal Title Track
Added the Party Animal title track and support for it in the Hall of Monuments. Players can gain points toward the Party Animal title by using various festive items, including Bottle Rockets, Champagne Poppers, Sparklers, Ghost-in-the-Boxes, Squash Serums, Snowman Summoners, Beetle Juice Tonics, Yuletide Tonics, and Transmogrifier Tonics.

Skill Updates

We will evaluate the following changes this week. Additional adjustments may be made during that time.

All
Decreased the variance in trebuchet impacts in GvG by reducing the target deviation and increasing the area-of-effect.
Health sacrifice now displays as a skill cost.

Victory or Death
Victory or Death: increased the damage to 25%.
NPCs receive an additional 5% damage bonus each minute after Victory or Death.

Congratulations January Automated Tournament Winners!
Murder Za, previously October's champion, defeated X Ekelon X to become the January Hero Battle champion. In the GvG scene, Mistral Edge [Me], a Japanese guild that finished second in November, defeated the European guild Close Encounter [cE] to seize the GvG championship.

Updated Automated Tournament map rotations.
Made the following improvements to Fort Aspendwood:
The green gate will no longer close behind the juggernaut, trapping him within Gunther's area.
The Luxon siege turtles will no longer target spirits, minions, or pets when choosing enemy targets.
Updated the Journey to the North buff description to inform players that attributes cannot be modified while under the benefits of the buff.
In the Gate of Desolation mission, removed a redundant portion of the skill description for Queen Bite (an Aijundu skill), which stated that the skill healed for 0 life.

Guild vs. Guild
Victory or Death: reduced damage increased to 10%; this skill now reduces healing by 10%.
Victory is Ours: both teams now get this bonus at Victory or Death, regardless of how many NPCs either team has; increased damage to 20%.

Assassin
Shroud of Silence: decreased duration to 1..3 seconds.
Shadow Prison: decreased duration to 1..7 seconds.
Dark Prison: decreased duration to 1..6 seconds.
Siphon Speed: increased recharge to 30 seconds; decreased duration to 5..15 seconds; this skill now recharges 50% faster if cast on a moving foe.
Augury of Death: increased recharge to 20 seconds.

Mesmer
Imagined Burden: decreased duration to 8..20 seconds.

Necromancer
Foul Feast: decreased casting time to .25 seconds; this skill has been moved to the Soul Reaping attribute; changed functionality to: "All conditions are transferred from target other ally to yourself. For each condition acquired in this way, you gain 0..45 Health and 0..3 Energy."
Enfeebling Blood: decreased Energy cost to 1, decreased casting time to 1 second; increased recharge to 8 seconds.
Enfeeble: decreased casting time to .25 seconds; increased duration to 10..30 seconds.
Plague Signet: changed functionality to: "Transfer all negative conditions with their remaining durations lengthened by 100..200% from yourself to target foe."

General
Concise Skill Description Option
Guild Wars now supports two types of skill descriptions: traditional and concise. Traditional descriptions maintain the classic style and have been in place since the first campaign. Concise descriptions are a new style, and are generally shorter in length.
The first time you log in, you get a message asking if you'd like to keep using traditional skill descriptions or if you'd like to change to concise descriptions. Once you make your selection, login will continue normally, and you won't see the message again. To change the skill description style while in-game, use the General tab in the Options panel. (Menu> Options> General)
Example of a traditional description for Defensive Stance:
For 1..7 seconds, you have +24 armor and you have a 75% chance to block melee and projectile attacks. Defensive Stance ends if you use a skill.
Example of a concise description for Defensive Stance:
(1..7 seconds.) You have 75% chance to block and +24 armor. Ends if you use a skill.

Fixed a bug in Underworld that sometimes prevented mission failure if a Reaper died too quickly after spawning.
Fixed a bug that would sometimes allow Necromancers to cast Putrid Flesh and Feast for the Dead while having no living minions for the spell to target.
Fixed a bug in the Tower of Strength quest within the Fissure of Woe that sometimes caused the Tower Mage to become stuck and never reach the tower.
Fixed a bug in the Dajkah Inlet challenge mission that could cause teams to crash after a long time spent in the mission.
Fixed a bug that caused some treasure chests to not work if more than one player attempted to open the chest at the same time.
Fixed a bug in the Moa'vu'Kaal, Awakened quest in Nightfall that caused the starting NPC to sometimes not display a quest marker even though the quest was available.
Fixed a bug that affected various sign posts and redirectors in the Eye of the North, Sifhalla, Olafstead, and Gunner's Hold.

Miscellaneous
The daggers known as Dragon Scythes are now named Dragon Kamas to avoid confusion over their weapon type.
The axe known as White Scythe is now named White Reaver to avoid confusion over its weapon type.
The second RAWR Cup Tournament is now listed on Tolkano.
The Xunlai Tournament House NPC now offers prizes for the February tournament and can be found in the Great Temple of Balthazar, Lion's Arch, Kaineng Center, and Kamadan.
